Had a wonderful experience working with Melanie & MH Interiors. We gutted our master bathroom and raised the ceiling. We moved all locations of plumbing, electrical and the layout including adding a closet system. The outcome is stunning and loved having Melanie help us design the bathroom of our dreams and see it come to fruition.

My husband and I came to MASH with past experience working with an interior designer, and although their process was a bit different than the one we had previously worked with, they explained every step of the way what we can expect and when to expect it. Everything went so smooth and I couldn’t be happier with the end result.

My budget for our master bathroom remodel was tight in some areas, but the designers made sure to stay within my limitations. They even helped me make those tough decisions on where my budget was best spent.

The 3D software they used is exactly what I needed to picture what it would look like prior to construction. Lindsay really took the time to get to know my husband and I and how we use our space, so that every little detail was planned out and thought of. Our little crowded bathroom now feels so open and functional! I will be reaching back out when it’s time for our kitchen remodel!

Melanie and her team at Mash Habitat Interiors turned my vision for our home's renovation from a stressful and overwhelming project into a fun and positive experience. They helped us navigate all the challenges of renovating an older home and brought up concerns we hadn't thought about beforehand. They coordinated schedules and installations with my contractors to ensure the designs went according to plan. I only wish I'd not cut some corners by hiring a few of my contractors and had gone with most of the ones Mash Habitat Interiors recommended, but hindsight is 20/20, and contractors are hard to come by after Covid. I was always kept in the loop and involved in the process. One of my favorite parts was reviewing the pre-project vision/design boards with Melanie and Julie! I am beyond thrilled now that everything is completed and installed in my new living and dining spaces. Now I’m budgeting for Phase 2 and looking forward to having Mash Habitat Interiors come work their magic, and anticipating their next reveal is one of the best parts.

12/01 Edited to add this 1st paragraph: This review is for MASH Habitat Interiors located in Fort Worth, Tx. The principal of which I worked with is Melanie Rosenburg. I have the contract and wire transfers to prove our working relationship.

Every client will have their own experience for sure. However, I wish I would have had the bad with the good so that I could have evaluated this company with proper due diligence before hiring them.

I hired this company in August of 2021 and there were very few reviews. The ones that existed seemed to be peer professionals or friends. Project was complete home with 4 bedrooms, 2 offices and 5 bathrooms. Six-figure budget. Blank canvas with very little pre-existing furniture. There are employee reviews out there that support my emotional experience of being swindled but for this review, I will keep it strictly to their work performance to the brief I hired them to complete.

> Inability to execute design brief. I created design boards that were a natural aesthetic of browns, blacks, white and beiges. Commonly seen on CB2, West Elm, Lulu & Georgia and similar. MASH couldn't execute to it. Email and conversations have me repeatedly asking if they had referenced our boards since there was a disconnect. Each submittal they sent to us had to be redone an avg of 4 to 5 times. Designing to the brief was a challenge for the entire 9 months we worked together.

> Timeliness. It would take weeks to receive design selections. Some rooms were taken out of her work load since they took so long. In conversation, she would mention that many of her other clients also would go ahead and buy items since they couldn't wait. I just didn't put it together that it was due to their long turn around times. In addition, once we settled on a design purchase it would take weeks for me to get the actual item to approve to purchase. So it was long lead times on top of long lead times.

> Item selections. Eventually we did get furniture approved and ordered. However the proportions were consistently off. As in too small for the spaces so that it looked off and felt off when physically in the space. Further they had me order material for bathrooms that could not be used as intended - or other times I was missing items that were needed to finish a job. A problem when I have a professional installer in your home ready to complete a job. These instances highlighted MASH's lack of understanding in home remodel/design.

> Unorganized. My email correspondence shows me constantly trying to get MASH to provide organized updates. Instead of freeing up my time, I then spent a lot of time managing this firm just to keep the job rolling forward. MASH did not act as a qualified agent to perform project management for an interior design job.

I have addressed all the above directly with the owner and tried to resolve over the span of 3 months to no avail. I am not a disgruntled client without real reason and I do not jump to write negative reviews. If anything, I try to write positive reviews as much as possible to support small businesses. MASH will respond that there are always two sides to a story and that is certainly true. However, our experience of their services was real and I decided to take the time to write this lengthy review.

Ultimately I did walk away from the relationship with the brief uncomplete and a large non-refundable retainer left on the table. I did try to reconcile with MASH for 3 months as a large part of the brief was unfinished, however I signed a contract and submitted a non-refundable deposit. The stress of managing and interacting with MASH was too much and it was clear I was still not going to get a home well decorated. I made a mental health judgement for myself and took the loss.

To put this simply:
MASH did not perform to their contract and I do not recommend.

MASH Habitat Interiors has been a great partner through the first phase of an ongoing finish out/remodel of my home. What started as a “would it be crazy if we…” idea I tossed out at the end of our first design meeting turned into a stunning design feature for my home. I could not have envisioned what we ended up with outside of Melanie’s help. She has the ability to see what’s needed for a particular space, and to create unique, elevated design choices.

Melanie works with a wide range of budgets and has excellent communication. I have been very pleased with the contractors she uses, and it’s been so nice to delegate the responsibility of managing those contractors and not have to do that myself.

I’m looking forward to many future projects with Melanie and her team at MASH!
